I posted this in OS, but it really belongs here.
We got all dressed up last night for our evening out to the symphony.
We went all out, i even sported my dress kilt.
We had amazing seats, just left of center 15 rows back in a full house.
The stage did not have a square inch left, it was packed with the 140 person choir, full symphony and the 4 operatic soloists.
Fittingly the theater was built around the same year the Requiem was written, and the sound quality and clarity left you breathless.
The Requiem from the opening note was hypnotic and intense.
For the first 15 minute movement i almost felt like i was dosed or something, it was truely otherworldly.
Incredible the way the music builds and builds and then on a dime drops to silence, then builds from a whisper once again.
Best concert i've seen this year by far.
Which Orchestra / conductor did you see?
