That's KAZOO, not gazoo

Gazoo was Fredrick Flintstone's little green friend who hung out on his shoulder and acted as the voice of reason.

["Cryptical Envelopment"]
The other day they waited, the sky was dark and faded,
Solemnly they stated, "He has to die, you know he has to die."
All the children learnin', from books that they were burnin',
Every leaf was turnin', to watch him die, you know he had to die.
The summer sun looked down on him,
His mother could but frown on him,
And all the other sound on him,
He had to die, you know he had to die.
["Quodlibet for tenderfeet": Instrumental]
["The Faster We Go The Rounder We Get: aka part 2]
Spanish lady come to me, she lays on me this rose.
It rainbow spirals round and round,
It trembles and explodes
It left a smoking crater of my mind,
I like to blow away.
But the heat came round and busted me
For smilin on a cloudy day
[Chorus]
Comin', comin', comin' around, comin' around, comin' around in a circle
Comin', comin', comin' around, comin' around, in a circle,
Comin', comin', comin' around, comin' around, in a circle.
Escapin' through the lily fields
I came across an empty space
It trembled and exploded
Left a bus stop in its place
The bus came by and I got on
That's when it all began
There was cowboy Neal
At the wheel
Of a bus to never-ever land
[Chorus]
["We Leave the Castle"]
And when the day had ended, with rainbow colors blended,
Their minds remained unbended,
He had to die, oh, you know he had to die.
Hey lets not forget Mickeys Pix. He was a great part of their new double drum sound. I remember them with their Rogers Drums sets back at the Fillmore East. That was some sweet fucking shit they played!!!

"Born Cross-eyed" was on that record, too, as I recall... Pretty cool when The Dead played it at the Alpine Reunion.
A great album indeed. Perhaps my favorite Dead studio album as they really used the studio in such adventurous ways. The transition from Cryptical into New Potato Caboose I always loved—especially tripping! And, strangely enough, while transiting through Newark Liberty Airport yesterday I swear the man most responsible for that section, as far as I understand, Tom Constanten, walked by me. Unfortunately I was standing in a security line-up and he seemed on his way somewhere so I didn't get a chance to say anything to him. Too bad.
And scrolling down the topic list I was reminded that Tom and the Tricksters, in fact, performed the concert last night in NJ that the Dead with him performed forty years parts of which were included on Live/Dead. So it definitely was him. Wish I could have chatted with him and wish even more that I could have been there...
I saw TC at Mexicali Blues show ( http://mexicalilive.com/ ) and he a super nice, gracious person. I am glad he is still with us

remember-it's only partial studio.........much of the material is from the northwest tour in 1968

love to all the hippie n deadheads in the world
"open up the jam jar slowly"
Its not an album it is an adventure in sound and space. The first time I heard Anthem it almost took my head off literally. It was almost to much for my brain to take in and when it was over I said "Damn! I gotta hear that again"
And if it is affecting us like that now, Imagine what it was doing to kids heads back in 68'.
