Black Joe Lewis & The Honey Bears
Anybody ever here these cats out of Austin?
Their album "Tell 'Em What You name Is" is my pick for best underground album of the year.
Have I found a good band that Zoners have never heard of?
Check them out.
They are playing Bowery Ballroom the night after Furthur at Radio City.
grady
is it a rock or blues record?
It's mostly funk with a blues/rock tinge. But old school, not hip-hop at all.
Ed, based on your posts about music -- i.e. best albums of the year -- I'd say you like, for lack of a better term, Folk/Rock the best. I also know you are open to all sorts of music so I think you would dig it. Don't mean to categorize your tastes. You and I like 95% the same stuff.
I think they stream their new album on their web site if you want to give it a listen.
I hope I'm not too burned out from Furthur to go to their Bowery Ballroom show on Feb. 25th. They are supposed to kick it live (never seen them, a friend just turned me onto their music over the holiday).
I'm hoping they get a Bonnaroo slot this year (not that I'm going) and the secret will be out. Perfect for the young dancing crowd.
Don't mean to categorize your tastes>>
not a problem and a fair evaluation, i will check out their site
what i have heard i like a lot.
I liked what I heard on the radio. Then I saw him this summer and it wasnt nearly as exciting as what I heard on the radio. He reminds me of James Brown.
