Just as I started believing the environmental scientists the termometer hit minus 40 C and below here in the valley of the far way woods. Been that way for nearly a week now, more than average low since xmas. Yesterday my Subie didn't react to my turning of the ignition key, I hauled some cable out in the ice, connected the pulse charger and let it sit for 24 hours. After some coughing and spitting the engine took my point and reluctantly started humming. Luckily it was just 3/4 of a mile ride down to the store to get supplies. Oil temp down to 0 as I got back home, indicators glowing red. Another round with the charger tomorrow. Brought my Nikon out to document the climate situation but no go at the push of the button, therefore no pix tonight. Tried to pee on the left rear wheel to loosen the frozen hand brake, no go. The beam froze in the air.

I am an old man. Never in my arctic life have I seen such an unfriendly Okko. If there's one thing in this whole wide world that ain't bothering me right now it's global warming.

They tell me the Gulf Stream has taken a westward turn. Bring it the fuck back !

Hi Mack, not cold here, just rainy gray. We're both home sick with colds. I'm Zoning, napping, Zoning, napping. We're cozy.

Thinking of you, sending warm thoughts.

Wow..that's cold Pelle...the one reason I'm here in this Meditterean climate (San Francisco Bay Area). After last winter in Alaska (i could'nt leave because of probation)with the temp. at 30 below zero for over three weeks at a time (we had 3 weather spells total)I decided that my Artic winters are over for this ol' man...
And next winter I'll be in even warmer Costa Rican weather....finally fullfilling my dream..
You pholks bundle up as I decide which T-shirt I'm going to wear to tonite's Rehearsel Furthur show in Mill valley..Capt."happily warm" Budley

Nothing to whine about compared to what other pholks are going through, but it has been brutal here lately by Florida standards, getting into the high 30's at night. I'm an old man with thin blood and I hate it.

Pelle- hang in there phriend, uh, uh, it's almost February.

Even the seagulls are freakin' down here...

LOL at Pelle, sorry, cold is no fun but at least you can still make jokes about it (I hope some of that was just comic relief).

Captain Budley,
I guess you're the only one here at the PZ who knows what I'm talking about. It's minus 40 centigrades, though, not F. Bad enough for me and my machinery. Been worrying about my water pipes, so far so good. Dug'em down three feet beneath the surface as we had our house rebuildt some years ago. I'm afraid we'll have to melt snow to get our water if Okko is going to sustain his ways. That motherfucker drives a hard bargain and I've met him before, stole all his trout above the arctic circle and now I'm paying dues. Don't understand why my neighbors have to suffer, though.

Okko is Thor.
Just gotta let him ramble on for a while.
Here's what happened as a kid threw a cup of boiling water up in the air:
ice

At least we got rid of the mosquitos.

All the best to all hepkats and kittens.
I'll be back tomorrow with more weather reports

Geez Loueeze good luck you guys, and stay warm.

Wind chills predicted tonite single digit and approaching 0, in Louisiana. Fuggin weird!

Lots of frozen pipes in the area.

Jaz,
please blow the Gulf Stream my way. If all you zoners in Louisiana, Texas and Florida would join in that effort, I might be able to loosen my beard from the dinner plate come May.

Pelle, I am a little bored, so I filled a coffee cup half way full with water, walked out back, slung it in the air, and got the patio wet.

Maybe a breeze will blow your way now.

I can assure you it was nothing incredable.

My wife called me a dumbass.

Jazfish, your wife may not be seeing the inherent beauty in an experiment contrasting the same action in different environments, but it sound like a fun time to me. Carry on.

I've been away from the computer for a bit...Yikes Pelle, that's cold I can't even begin to imagine. Florida is an ice box. It's been staying aroung 33 all day here in Orlando. We didn't get the snow that the networks are showing...but we did get some sleet. It sounded so funny hitting the leaves on the ground. A higher pitch...a bit tin-e-er (sp). My son and I then discussed the differences beteen hail and sleet...

Bundle up everyone.

Jazfish...keep doing whta you're doing and warm us all up...Be careful with the static discharge from rubbing your feet on the carpet.

I'm out to throw a cup of water...Why not?

Today is the first day in 5 days that we have broken the freezing mark.

14" snow with blizzard conditions on Christmas Eve and some of that stuff is still around.

Bring on the warm!

Never got above 44 here today, which is completely wacky. No sign of the Gulf Stream yet, Pelle.

For my money... Winter sucks.

Geee... did I misinterpret this thread's title... I was thinking to myself "hmmmm... a globe that warms your ass... that's a new one on me.

But no.

LOL

Baby it's coooooooolllllddddd outside!

He he.
I realized too late that the thread title was a tad ambiguous, too late to edit. Glad you discovered the meaning of it. I will notify you at once soon as I detect a globe with said properties. In the meantime you'll have to settle for the volcanos.

Got up to 75 here yesterday and today is pleasant, although we've lost a lot of foliage after back to back sub-freezing nights earlier in the week. So "The Stream" is headed back in the right direction, Pelle.

I'm off to "webcast" my college basketball game (www.eckerdtritons.com thats me in the background over #21 in blacks shoulder)- a great Saturday to all who post here!

Right on, Jazfish. Thanx ! Ever since you threw that cup of water up in the air on your patio, temps have been tolerable over here. It's been around minus 10 C since then.Right now, at 08.20 am local time we have minus 6,perfect winter conditions.
