I think we knew Green Tea some favorable actions for us and here is the latest.

The Antifibrotic Effects Of Green Tea
Main Category: Liver Disease / Hepatitis

Article Date: 19 Nov 2009 - 5:00 PST

Several studies have shown that lipid peroxidation stimulates collagen production in fibroblasts and hepatic stellate cells (HSC), and plays an important role in the development of liver fibrosis. Hepatoprotective effects of green tea against carbon tetrachloride, cholestasis and alcohol induced liver fibrosis were reported in many studies. However, the hepatoprotective effect of green tea in dimethylnitrosamine (DMN)-induced models has not been studied.

A research article published on November 7, 2009 in the World Journal of Gastroenterology addresses this. The research team, led by Prof. Hong-Yon Cho from Korea University examined the protective effect of green tea extract (GT) on hepatic fibrosis in a rat HSC line and in a rat model of DMN-induced hepatic fibrosis.

The results showed GT administration prevented the development of hepatic fibrosis in the rat model of DMN-induced liver fibrosis. These results were confirmed both by liver histology and by quantitative measurement of hepatic hydroxyproline content, a marker of liver collagen deposition. Accordingly, inhibition of proliferation, reduced collagen deposition, and type 1 collagen expression were observed in activated HSC-T6 cells following GT treatment. These results imply that GT reduced the proliferation of activated HSC and down regulated the collagen content and expression of collagen type 1, thereby ameliorating hepatic fibrosis.

The researchers drew a conclusion that green tea may protect liver cells and reduce the deposition of collagen fibers in the liver. Green tea provides a safe and effective strategy for improving hepatic fibrosis.

Good stuff Fred, however, the last time I dealt with Kim HK, Yang TH, Cho HY I was in Bangkok and got screwed, blued and tattooed.. LOL

I drink a fair amount of Green Tee, and in the morning it's coffee which we found out two weeks ago is also good for the liver. I dealt with a great deal of carbon tet, fair amount of asbestos too.

Well on lighter note nice to see you posting.

Peace

Ed

Ed,
Sounds like a wild time in Bangkok :D

I keep watching those studies in hopes they finally figure out how Scotch is GREAT for us ... or how GREAT Scotch is for us!

For now it looks like we'll have to count our blessings with the bean & leaf beverages....

.......

~ Thanks Fred ....I'll have a better look a bit later when I can *...I actually wound up writng a complete epic'....in response to your post - because 'answering things like that makes me feel the need to give out a bit of history about where I live ...I think it's more because I can feel our elders leaving us.... & I want to make sure they are 'represented for the great people they were **

but I don't think you need me to do that*

~ anyhow......this is where I live Fred *

http://www.nimbinaustralia.com/ ...so please pass it on to her *

& if you go to the 'Creative/ Cosmic' folders' here on the zone ..on the All topics bar at the left & click on 'Art in the garden' - you can show her some of the things I've been making around my garden & our surrounds - I have actually asked Bret to remove the thread while I fix some spelling' on it* .......so it may disappear any day now... & given my history'...I may not get a chance to re do it' - so now is the time to check some pictures out

- If your friend is a healer she will be surrounded by many alternative resources here *

& many more further up North * ....here we have every sort of 'health centre you could think of - we have buddhist retreats - male ceromonial business' like sweat lodges & anger rehab management retreats....'womens business'....we have a Krisna temple here on the side of the mountain that was erected since we all arrived * along with many other temples & styles of healing .....

we also have many of our elders who are the traditional land owners here who offer Indigenous teachings

our Town was the 'first alternative gathering spot here in Australia - & proudly we have been the heart of many environment movements & Indigenous land rights movements here in australia & around the world since 1973

many of us have traveled to assist & potest in environment & land rights issues ...both here & in many countries .....not necessarily as successful as any of us would want - but we have helped to keep the political agenda's on the table...as opposed to under it -

- there are many beautiful places she can stay at * all over australia ....( I've got to say the people are pretty ordinary & would have to be desired' ...just like everyone else in the world - )))

.....like in the States ...the population here is about 98% indecent - & should have their oxygen removed -

- talking about oxygen I'm off to see George ...hopefully I can arrange his move out here for a couple of days - if he is well enough * )))

I have alot of 'family' & extended family issues going down Fred' & a couple of them are heading overseas - so it's hard for me to think 'visitor - otherwise she would be more than welcome to stay here * I would certainly love a visit & I would arrange anything she needs accommodation wise & connect her with some good people who are into alternative medicines & healing that I think she would like to meet **

- ( bloody joints.. I am a hopeless babbler - Fred ...
- they would'nt need to waterboard me .....any joint will do * )))

I tried really hard to keep this brief* ....& I need to head into Town

..." fair amount of asbestos too. "

..........

~ & Ed' ..how is youuuur health doing ? by the way......I know it's a stupid question ~ but whats going on with the smokes ? did you wrestle them to the ground ?

- & fuck that James Hardy ! ...one of my uncles wrote a song called 'Shamas Hardy ' way back in the 70's - against their mines ...& of course way before those bastards were even noted for the many toxic houses & commodities they built - some of their asbestos mines were left open for many of our Indigenous families & children to live on ...who played in it's dust for many years killing hundreds of people just at the mines alone ...all the while Hardy knew of it's toxic effects ...just like the tobacco companies -

bastards -

(( anyhow'..I better get out of here * before I get onto that as well ! ....and the wives who washed their clothes.... )))))

.....

...& Fred' ....I know you love fishing * & I also know how much you care for our environment*

- I have to add'...(( the 'Algae' fuel as an alternative energy source looks seriously promising in regards to climate change - looks like the crew in LA & other crew over here have done some amazing stuff in research with it

did you here or read anything about the International Census on marine life recently ?

http://www.coml.org/comlfiles/press/CoML_Ice_Ocean s_Public_Release_02.15.2009.pdf

....- " The studies by a global network of polar researchers have added substantially to human
knowledge about the diversity, distribution and abundance of marine life, with results to
be fully detailed in the world’s first Census report, to be released in London Oct. 4, 2010.

“Only through the co-operation of 500 people from more than 25 countries could the
daunting environmental challenges be overcome to produce research of such
unprecedented scale and importance. And humanity is only starting to understand the
nature of these regions.”

anyhow I was watching some of it this morning & I found it pretty interesting ' ...
